v2rayN
Installation and usage guide

Manage servers in subscription groups and choose connection and routing settings. Covers installation, subscription import, everyday use and troubleshooting.

Get ready to connect

  • A WahooVPN account you can sign in to, with an active plan and remaining traffic.
  • Create a separate subscription link for this device using this format: V2Ray.
  • Do not share your account password with strangers when installing third-party clients.
Format and protocol compatibility

Use a V2Ray subscription and check which core is active. VLESS, REALITY and XHTTP support varies by core version and parameters; the client name alone is not enough. WahooVPN testing on a physical Windows device is still pending.

01

Download and run v2rayN

Choose the official package for Windows and your device architecture. Install it or fully extract it before running, following the current release's instructions.

Choose the Windows package matching your architecture from 2dust/v2rayN releases and read its installation instructions. Fully extract archives before running. Follow that release's official runtime and core requirements.

02

Copy your WahooVPN subscription

Open WahooVPN's Subscription Links page, select V2Ray, create the link and copy the full URL. Store it securely.

Open WahooVPN subscription management
03

Add a subscription group

Open group settings under Subscription Groups, create a group, enter a label and subscription address, then save. Menu names depend on the installed version.

04

Update and activate a server

Update subscriptions from the main screen. Once nodes load, select a server and set it as active from the context menu. Confirm the current core starts successfully.

05

Enable the system proxy and routing

Set the system proxy through the tray menu and check the routing mode. To handle apps that ignore the system proxy, follow the official TUN and permissions documentation for your version.

06

Test real website access

Open your target website and a commonly used local site to verify routing. If the connection fails, check client errors, subscription format, active server and system proxy status. Remove credentials and node parameters before sharing logs.

Everyday use

Once connected, switch nodes, maintain subscriptions and check routing as needed.

Switch active servers and subscription groups

  1. Select the relevant group on the main screen, find the node and set it as the active server.
  2. Check that the core has started before testing access. After switching nodes, apps may need to reconnect existing sessions to use the new outbound connection.
  3. Test a few candidate nodes and choose based on actual website access, rather than latency rankings alone.

Understand system proxy, routing and TUN

  1. The system proxy directs requests from apps that follow system settings into the client. Routing selects where traffic goes after entering the client.
  2. When troubleshooting, check the system proxy first, then routing rules. Global routing does not automatically capture apps that ignore the system proxy.
  3. If you need TUN, configure permissions using the official instructions for your version and check for conflicts with other VPNs or virtual interfaces.

Maintain subscriptions and upgrade the client

  1. Update through the existing subscription group and check that the node list and active server are still as expected.
  2. Record the version and custom settings before upgrading, and read the target release's runtime and core requirements.
  3. Clear the system proxy set by v2rayN before exiting. Closing the window alone may leave the app running in the system tray.

Having trouble? Check these first.

What if v2rayN reports a core startup failure or missing runtime?

Read the official release notes for runtime and core requirements. Check that the package is fully extracted and matches your architecture. Verify the download source and security software findings; do not simply disable system protection or exclude the entire directory.

Node tests return results. Why does the browser still fail?

Confirm an active server is selected, the core is running and the system proxy is set correctly. Also check browser proxy extensions and routing. A node test does not prove browser requests are reaching the client.

How do I handle TLS or certificate errors in v2rayN?

Check the system date and time, then examine the exact error and destination host. Certificate errors may come from the subscription service or network interception. Do not bypass certificate verification to suppress them.

What is a subscription link?

A subscription link is a personal configuration address supplied by a proxy service provider. It contains information such as nodes, connection configuration and traffic plan details.

How do third-party proxy clients differ from the WahooVPN app?

Both use the same WahooVPN server resources, but their workflows and features differ. The official WahooVPN app lets you sign in and connect with one tap, with automatic server selection and smart routing. Third-party clients such as Clash and v2rayN load server configurations through subscription links without signing in to your WahooVPN account; available features depend on the client.

Which client should a beginner choose?

Start with your device: Shadowrocket for iOS, v2rayNG for Android, or Clash Verge Rev for macOS and Windows. Once you choose an app, open its guide on this site to find the matching subscription format.

What if an update fails or the node list is empty?

Check that the URL is complete, the format matches and the link is enabled, unexpired and not revoked. Also check your account expiry and remaining traffic. Confirm your network can reach the subscription service. Do not paste credentials into third-party online testing tools.

Why can I import a subscription but still not connect?

Confirm an active node is selected and the proxy is started. Then check system proxy or VPN permissions, routing and conflicts with other VPNs. Some nodes may use transport parameters unsupported by the current core. Successful subscription parsing does not establish protocol compatibility.

What is the difference between the system proxy and TUN?

The system proxy is used by apps that follow system proxy settings. TUN handles traffic through a virtual network interface and usually needs extra permissions. Routing and app exclusions still determine its scope; it does not guarantee that all traffic uses the proxy.

What if a link is lost, exposed or expired?

The full link is shown only when created. Create a new link if you lose it. If you suspect exposure, revoke the old link in your account, then create and import a new one. Revocation is irreversible. Check link expiry and account plan expiry separately.

Sources and verification status

This guide is based on official client documentation. It has not yet been tested on the corresponding physical devices. Interface labels may change between versions; real screenshots and tested version records are still pending.
